We read many things about successful living with inspirational quotes, e-books, and from those who lead in the empowering message field. They make you feel good but they only last as long as it takes to read them if you don't follow through. It is not the people with the empowering messages that bother me. It's that nitty-gritty where do I start. Where do I begin. Did the message go in one ear and out the other because we think we are too busy to take action.
First, take a look at how you engage people. 90 % of success is getting along with people.
Secondly, How well do you engage with others. How well do you communicate both the oral and written word. Do you need a brush up course in speaking and writing?
Thirdly, are you a good listener or are you too busy thinking about what you want to say and don't hear what the person has to say?
Fourth, are you neat in appearance? Are you dressed appropriately for the occasion or do people tend to overlook you because of the way you look. Is it the lack of self-care?
Are you up-to-date on technical skills they take you in the new way we communicate in today's world.
All these subjects remind me of courses that were developed by companies and organizations to help many employees and members improve their image and gain respect. The need is still here. We all can improve.
What are your weakness and what are your strengths? Go through the list and start your journey. Re-enforce your strengths. Start to work on your weakness taking courses at work, an organization you belong to or local community centers. Do one thing daily.
Begin your list
1. Know how to engage people
2. Be a good listener.
3. Improve the written word
4. Improve public speaking
5. Improve your appearance
6. Improve your techology.

Flowers Are God's Art Work

Flowers are the most delicate and beautiful of God's creations. Each time I see a field of wildflowers it takes my breath away. Their faces are turned toward the sun. They stand in wind, rain, and sunshine for their nourishment. Some bloom all year round while others appear within a season. For example, the violet's head appears in February where I lived in Florida.
The violet was one of my favorites because my Grandma Anna loved them so. When I was little I always picked her a bunch and watched that smile come on her face. She would gently take them and pat me on the head with a thank you. You could tell she loved them because her big brown eyes sparkled when she looked at them. As I grew older I continued to carry her that bouquet of sweet violets.
My Mother loved flowers as well. She would take a cutting from a bush and plant it. Up it would come and grow like a weed. She always shared cuttings of her flowers with friends and neighbors. She had a "green" thumb. As for me, the only way I could have that green thumb was to paint it green. For some reason, Geraniums were the only flowers I could grow.
After the passing of my grandmother and my mother, I missed their beautiful beds of flowers.
Upon my retirement, I looked for something to do. That was a turning point for me. I started to
do the artwork. My subject always turned to flowers. Of course I painted other subjects, but always turned back to flowers. As I studied these beautiful, delicate flowers I decided that only God could have created them. Yes, flowers are God's artwork.

After 78 years moved
It really was a great step in deciding to move from my beloved hometown of Holly
Hill, Florida
and move to the hills of Tennessee. Born and raised in Daytona Beach, it was the only life I knew. But moving at the age of 78
was huge. I will never forget it. At the age of 78 age I was a Florida cracker and became a Tennessee Hill Billy on my 78th birthday.
Why the move? I had a bad home accident while visiting my daughter in Nashville for the holidays. It turned out to be a 9 month stay so that I had care. From there the discussion of moving came up.
I decided to build a house in a beautiful retirement community
named Del-Webb in Mt. Juliet. It is close to my daughter and
a very busy and happy place. There are so many things to do
with over eighty clubs to participate in. Built around a Lake Providence it provides a beautiful well kept landscape.

Support For Our "Girls of Summer
When I was a little girl I played sand-lot baseball with my brothers and sister.I played with my siblings against kids in the neighborhood. Organized sports were not available for girls. Even through high school there were no women's competitive sports among the high schools. Intramurals were offered in gym classes. Throughout my high school years I worked from 5:00p.m. to 10:p.m. at a local newspaper office operating their switchboard. After my high school graduation I went to work for Southern Bell Telephone Company and worked my way up the ladder. I join the Business and Women's club/USA as a way to grow professionally. It was not long before I started working on the BPW National Foundation helping to raise money
for Career Advancements Scolarships. The money provided an education for women with financial needs. It build their self-esteem, self suffuciency, and an education. It helped make a better place in the workforce for them.
I really didn't pay attention to women in sports until my own daughter wanted to play softball. Some fathers had organized a girls youth softball league. The girls were still second rate to Little League Baseball. They had to play on a little league ball field on Sundays when no baseball games were scheduled. Some girls came to practice with brothers old worn out glove. Others had to miss games or practice because brother had a game. It was then I realized that someone had to work , to promote, and grow this sport for girls. From team manager to League President to major fundraising was my goal for the next few years. My husband and I sported girls sports throughout our daughter's high school and college years. When she became a college coach it was the same issues again. Women's sports were second rate.
Now that the Olympics Organization has dropped softball we visit the same issues. These fine women athletes including the Olympians need support for The National Pro Fastpitch League. Women softball players deserve a chance to pursue their dreams. They deserve the same chance to pursue a career in a Professional Softball League as the baseball players do in Major League Baseball. It needs everyone's support to see these talented "Girls of Summer".

Tropical Fish Card 3

It was hard picking up where I left off. This is card number 3 of 4 in my Tropical Fish collection. It has been months since I have posted, or even yet, did an art piece.
This medium is very relaxing. Also, one that you can pick up your tools and go anywhere with it..no water, no mess to clean up.
You can start with a light sketch on your paper
and and then use the colored pencil by shading in
the colors, highlighting and shading as you go.
